Koerselman Named All-American

Northwestern College senior J.C. Koerselman earned All-American honors as released by the NAIA and American Football Coaches’ Association (AFCA) Monday.

Koerselman posted his best season at tight end for the Red Raiders and was named to the 11-player second team. Koerselman accounted for 46 receptions and 543 yards, both season bests and both ranking within the top 10 of the conference. He totaled three touchdowns and also played a key role in blocking for the fifth-best rushing offense in the GPAC at 216 yards/game. Koerselman,closed his career as a three-time all-conference selection and totaled 90 catches for 1,048 yards and seven touchdowns for his career.

Northwestern finished the 2017 season with a 10-2 record and qualified for the NAIA Football Championship Series for the first time since 2014. They picked up their first postseason win since 2006 with a 55-7 win over No.7 Langston (Okla.) before losing to the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) in the quarterfinals.
