Matt Campbell And Gary Patterson Preview Saturday’s Big-12 opener

Iowa State coach Matt Campbell is not sure game experience will be much of an advantage in Saturday’s Big-12 opener at TCU.

The Cyclones opened with a loss to Louisiana on September 12th and Saturday’s game will be the opener for the Horned Frogs.

Campbell does not feel lack of game experience will be much of a factor for an established program like TCU.

Campbell says the Cyclones benefitted from the off week.

TCU coach Gary Patterson says quarterback Max Duggan may play against the Cyclones. The former Lewis Central standout was sidelined for a period this summer with a heart condition unrelated to COVID-19. Matthew Downing is the likely starter under center.

Patterson is concerned about lack of game experience. The Horned Frogs’ opener against SMU was postponed because of a COVID outbreak.

Patterson says while the Cyclones don’t have any film of this team to work from they do have the advantage of being able to fix their mistakes.
