Sioux Center, Iowa — Payton Mauldin was named the GPAC / Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Runner of the Week as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Mauldin qualified for nationals in two events at last weekend’s Mount Marty Invite held in Yankton, S.D. The sophomore won the 1000m with an ‘A’ standard time of 2:28.3, currently the fourth fastest time in the NAIA and best in the GPAC. Mauldin also anchored the winning 4×800 relay team that crossed the finish line with an ‘A’ standard time of 7:47.05, second fastest in the NAIA.
Mauldin has now qualified for nationals in four individual events this indoor season (400m, 600m, 800m, 1000m) and two relays (4×400, 4×800).
