Payton Mauldin, a senior at George Little Rock High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and field program.
“We are thrilled that Payton has chosen Dordt to further his education and track and field career. Payton comes from a strong program at GLR, and is one of the best 800 meter runners in the state. He is a great fit for Dordt and for our team and will be a positive contributor to the Defender Way. Payton will continue the great tradition we have at Dordt of 400-600-800 runners that compete at a high level,” said Dordt track and field coach Craig Heynen.
Mauldin was the state champion in the Class 1A 800 meters last season and has a personal best of 1:52 in the 800 and :49 in the 400 meters. He helped George Little Rock to a 2019 Class 1A team title with 52 points.
“Dordt was the best place for me to grow as an athlete, student and Christian,” said Mauldin.
Payton is the son of Tim and Shauna Mauldin of George, Iowa. He plans to study Education.
