MOC Floyd Valley Wins District Opener at Sheldon

Sheldon Iowa — MOC Floyd Valley made a 14-0 halftime lead hold up as they downed Sheldon 21-7 in the district opener for both teams. It was homecoming for the Orabs who saw their season record fall to 3-2. The Dutch picked up their first win to improve to 1-4.

The Dutch capped a 69 yard drive as Gage Fischer scored on a 5 yard run. Austin Robyn added the point after and the score was 7-0 with 9:42 left in the second quarter.

JJ Okihn scored the first of two touchdowns just before halftime to cap a 55 yard drive. His four yard run and Robyn’s extra point put MOC Floyd Valley in front 14-0 with 1:12 left in the half.

Sheldon scored to open the second half as Tyler Lode returned opening kick off to the MOC Floyd Valley 40 yard line. From there Brennan Radke found Lode on the right sideline for a 26 yard score. Brian Bernal added the extra point and the lead was cut to 14-7 with 9:50 left in the third quarter.

MOC Floyd Valley put together a signature drive going 74 yards. It ended  with JJ Okihn going in from 11 yards out. Robyn’s extra point made it 21-7 with 5:41 to go. The Orabs threatened late in the quarter but the Dutch got the stop on 4th and goal from their own 11 yard line and were able to run out the clock.

Sheldon travels to Sioux Center next Friday. MOC Floyd Valley will be at Central Lyon George Little Rock.
