JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The tough stretch of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play continues for the No. 9-ranked Northwestern College volleyball team (9-5, 1-3 GPAC) as they fell in straight sets to No. 2-ranked Jamestown (15-0, 5-0 GPAC) to conclude the season series with the Jimmies.
Alysen Dexter (Fr., Urbandale, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) led the team once again in kills throughout the match with 11 kills. Emily Strasser (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D./Sioux Falls Christian) picked up 14 digs and Jadeyn Schutt (Jr., Orange City, Iowa/MOC-Floyd Valley) tallied 13 to lead the Raiders defensively.
Set one was a back and forth affair, similar to the first set when the two teams met back in Orange City on September 10. The Jimmies, however, would close out the set and take it 25-22.
Jamestown jumped out to early 15-5 lead forcing Northwestern to take a time out. A long rally out of the Raider timeout got the Raiders back on track, but the Jimmies would keep the pressure on taking the set 25-8.
The Raiders battled back in the third set, holding a 21-17 lead late before a 4-0 Jimmie rally tied the match, allowing Jamestown to take the set 25-22.
Up Next: The Raiders take on the No. 5-ranked Defenders of Dordt University in the battle for Sioux County this Saturday, September 25 in Sioux Center, Iowa. First serve set for 3:00 p.m. on the campus of Dordt University.
