Northwest Iowa Community College Welcomes First Soccer Player for New Men’s Thunder Soccer Team

Sheldon, Iowa – Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) is thrilled to announce the signing of its first player, Sam Vust, for the inaugural men’s soccer team. Sam, an accounting student from Sheldon, Iowa, comes to the NCC soccer program with an impressive background in the sport, including four years of varsity soccer at Sheldon High School.

Sam has been an integral part of soccer in the region, having played for 12 years, including time with the Northwest Iowa Soccer Club and Dakota Lions Soccer Club. His commitment to the sport was evident from an early age, as he played a key role in the inaugural competitive soccer team at Sheldon High School. Now, he’s set to make history again as part of the first men’s soccer team at NCC.

Reflecting on his decision to join the NCC team, Sam said, “I’ve known Coach Kuehler from playing in high school and through local soccer clubs. I’m excited to play under Coach Kuehler’s guidance for NCC. The thrill of being part of this new chapter for NCC soccer is immense, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Coach Kuehler, who has previously coached against and alongside Sam, expressed his enthusiasm for Sam’s commitment: “Having coached against Sam in high school and at club soccer, I’m well aware of his capabilities on the field. He’s exactly the kind of player we need to kick off our first year. Sam’s talent and leadership are going to be instrumental in building our team’s foundation.”

The NCC community is excited to see Sam bring his skills and passion for soccer to the college. His signing marks a significant milestone in NCC’s athletic history, setting the stage for a promising future for the men’s soccer team.
