Northwestern Basketball Adds Vander Plaats

Northwestern College logoOrange City, Iowa — Jill Vander Plaats of Sioux Center has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Northwestern College next year. She signed to play volleyball at NWC earlier this year.

Vander Plaats is a multi-sports standout who played four years for the Sioux Center High School basketball team. Vander Plaats averaged a team-high 11.3 points per game in earning first team all-conference honors as a senior. She also pulled down five rebounds and dished out two assists in leading Sioux Center to a 21-3 overall record. Vander Plaats earned second team honors after her sophomore and junior years. An honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, Vander Plaats plans to major in business at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Preston and Lori.

“Jill is a gifted athlete who has had a strong impact on both her basketball and volleyball teams,” commented head coach Chris Yaw. “She has good strength and attacks the basket well. Jill’s success on the court is only part of what makes her a great fit for our program. Her attention to academics is outstanding and she is a person of tremendous character. We are excited to have Jill join our basketball and volleyball programs at NWC.”
