NWC In 4th, Dordt 8th After Day 3 Of Men’s GPAC Golf Tournament

North Sioux City, South Dakota — The Northwestern College men’s golf team dropped one spot in the team standings and the Dordt Defender men’s golf team is in eighth place after day three of the GPAC Championships. Days three and four are being held at the Dakota Dunes and feature all 11 GPAC teams.

Northwestern shot a 315 in Monday’s third round and dropped back into fourth place with a 54-hole total of 925. They are four strokes in back of Doane, who carded a 314 today, and nine strokes behind Midland, who moved up from fourth to second with a third-round score of 303.

The Defenders shot a 322 and now have a team total of 947 and are five strokes behind Dakota Wesleyan and 14 behind Jamestown in sixth place.

Morningside extended its lead to 44 strokes after shooting a 286 in Monday’s round. Morningside’s Jonny Douglas is the individual leader with a 72-67-77=216 and his teammate Corey Matthey is in second with a 218.

Kolby Newborg carded the low round for the Raiders today with a 77, followed by Brock Murphy and Isaac Knock with a 78. Ezra Meyer (82) and Kyle Christy (89) round out the Northwestern scores.

Murphy is tied for eighth place after 54-holes with a 227, four strokes out of a top five finish with one round to play. Newborg is alone in 11th place with a 228 and within striking distance of a top five finish. Meyer and Knock are tied for 20th (236) and Christy is tied for 31st overall.

Colin Kloostra shot a 74 to lead the Defenders and Ryan Feauto an 80. Kolin Kroeze and Blake Harmsen counted for Dordt’s other two scorers with an 82 and 86.
