(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played November 2-8, 2020. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2020-2021 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Anna Wedel, Northwestern College (Outside)
Anna Wedel of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Wedel, a senior, from Maurice, Iowa, recorded a double-double in wins over Morningside and previously unbeaten Jamestown, both by 3-1 scores. She hit .301 for the week and averaged 4.1 kills and 4.3 digs per set. Wedel has 10 double-doubles this season. Northwestern is 15-2 on the season with one match left to play.
Setter- Lacey Reitz, Northwestern College
Lacey Reitz of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Reitz, a senior from Jackson, Minnesota, averaged 11.9 assists and directed an offense that hit. 276 in wins over Morningside and previously unbeaten Jamestown. She also averaged 2.4 digs, tallied one double-double and served three aces.
Defender – Emily Strasser, Northwestern College (Defensive Specialist)
Emily Strasser of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Strasser, a junior, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, anchored the Raiders backrow play in leading her team to a 2-0 record. Strasser averaged 4.5 digs and went a perfect 30-for-30 in serve receive in wins over Morningside and Jamestown. She ranks fifth in the GPAC in digs per set.
