Orab Baseball Team Downs G-LR

Sheldon Iowa — The Sheldon Orab baseball team hosted George Little Rock Monday night and came a way with a 10-0 six inning win. With one out in the top of the sixth Tyler Lode lifted a fly ball to deep left field that scored Phil Cain from third to give the Orabs the walk off win. Earlier in the inning Tyler Johnson and Marshall Kleinhesselink opened with back to back singles. Johnson scored on a fielders choice off the bat of Cain. Kleinhesselink scored on an rbi single from Tyler Merley.

Sheldon scored four runs in the second inning. Jason Barwick, Phil Cain and Tyler Merley reached on consecutive walks and would eventually score. Hunter Lang reached on a walk and scored as well. Tyler Johnson had a sac fly to drive in one of the runs.

Cain and Merley reached again in the third inning and both scored on a 2 run single to left center by Lode to put the Orabs up 7-0. Another Orab run crossed in the fourth as Luke Van Beek singled and later scored on a fielders choice off the bat of Jason Barwick.

The Orabs used 5 pitchers in the game. Tyler Johnson started and went the first inning. Marshall Kleinhesselink went the next inning and a third for the win. Brennan Radke pitched 1 inning in relief with Hunter Lang in for 2 thirds of an inning with Kordell Kooiker going the rest of the way to finish up. Matt Haken went the first five innings and took the loss for the Mustangs.

With the with Sheldon is 6-6 for the year and 5-5 in the conference. George Little Rock is 2-9 for the year and 1-7 in the Siouxland. Sheldon will host Cherokee Tuesday night and we’ll bring you the broadcast on KIWA AM 1550 and FM 100.7. The Mustangs have Tuesday off and return to action on Wednesday at Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
