Orab Boys Basketball Season Comes To A Close

West Monona made the long trip north to Sheldon from Onawa but made it worthwhile as they left with a 63-59 come from behind tournament win Monday night.

The Spartans pulled even at 57-57 in the closing moments of the fourth quarter and went up 61-59 in the final minute and a half. Doing just enough at the free throw line the lead went to 63-59 with :10 seconds left as Owen Collison hit one of two on his final trip to the line.

Sheldon led at all the breaks up 17-11 at the end of the first quarter and 30-26 at the half. At the end of three the lead was 53-43. JJ Lander hit a three as the quarter ended and that momentum helped to spark the comeback. The Spartans scored 20 in the final 8 minutes to get the win.

Sheldon had three players in double figures led by Blake Radke with 18 before fouling out with 17.6 seconds left. A pair of senior were next with Shane Brouwer hitting for 16 and Max Hamill adding 10. West Monona was led by Landon Blatchford with 17 points followed by Collison with 15.

With the win the Spartans take a 14-8 record into Rock Rapids and a meeting with District top seed Central Lyon who got bye into the semis. Sheldon finishes the year with a 6-17 record.
