Orab Softball Team Opens Season With WIn

Sheldon Iowa — The Sheldon Orab softball team opened the season at home with an 8-4 non-conference win over Spencer Monday night. The Tigers had taken a 1-0 lead after the second inning before Sheldon erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of the third to take control of the contest.

The Orabs added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Spencer made a late charge with 3 runs in the top of the seventh but Sheldon held on for the 8-4 season opening win.

Tayler Weber led the offense with a 3-for-4 night. Alexa Vanden Hall was 2-for-3 with a run batted in while
Nicole Meyer went 2-for-3 at the plate as well.

Nicole Johnson went the distance for the win. She stuck out 11, walked 7 and gave up 2 earned runs. Bre Small took the loss. She went 6 innings striking out 3 and walking 2.

Sheldon is on the road at Ocheyedan Tuesday for the conference opener against Sibley Ocheyedan.
