Orabs Close Non District Schedule with a Win

Sheldon Orabs 2Paullina Iowa — The Sheldon Orab Football Team ran their record to 2-0 with a 28-14 win at South O’Brien Friday night. Sheldon opened the scoring with a 65 yard drive capped by a Jake Roos 1 yard touchdown run. Jaden Kleinhesselink ran for the 2-point conversion and the Orabs were up 8-0 with 4:31 left in the first quarter.

Sheldon added another first quarter score with 2:46 left when Kleinhesselink found Tyler Merley for a 23 yard score. the kick was no good and the Orab lead was up to 14-7.

South O’Brien got on the board early in the second quarter when Sam Nelson scored on a 23 yard run with 8:54 to go in the half. The drive was set up by a Carson Louscher interception that set up the Wolverines at the Sheldon 48 yard line. Drew Faust added the extra point and the Orab lead was cut to 14-7.

Sheldon answered that score with a 67 yard drive capped by a 3 yard Alex Zoelle  touchdown run. Parker Nissen added the extra point and Sheldon led 21-7.

South O’Brien answered that score with a drive that ended with :34 seconds left in the half that pulled the Wolverines to within 21-14 at halftime. Carson Louscher hit Clay Lenz in the end zone for a 1 yard score and Drew Faust added the extra point.

The only score of the second half came with 1:41 left to play after both teams had more than one drive stall out in the fourth quarter. Philip Cain scored on the jet sweep from a yard out and Parker Nissen added the extra point as the Orabs nailed down the win 28-14.

With the win Sheldon ends the non-district part of the schedule at 2-0 while the Wolverines are 0-2. Both teams open district play next Friday. Sheldon will host MOC Floyd Valley while South O’Brien travels to Harley Melvin Sanborn.
