Orabs Come From Behind Against the Generals

Sheldon Iowa — A 6-run sixth inning gave Sheldon a 9-4 come from behind win over Sibley Ocheyedan at the Orab baseball Field Tuesday night.

The Generals score first with lead off hitter Caleb Mayer hit by a pitch. He advanced to third on a double to right and came in to score on a sac fly to center off the bat of Andrew Epinoza.

Sibley Ocheyedan made it 4-0 with a 3-run fourth inning. With two outs Garret Sarringar doubled to right. Mayer followed with a base on balls and both scored on a double to right by Charley Zylstra. Zylstra scored on a wild pitch to plate the third run of the inning.

Sheldon cut the lead to 4-2 in the home half of the fourth as Caleb Ackerman was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Trey Idema to the fence in left. An errant pick off throw allowed Idema to scored from third.

Sheldon got within a run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Max Hamill singled to the right side of the infield and later scored on a double to left by Brendan Cain to make the score 4-3.

The Orabs broke the game open with a 6-run sixth inning as Idema, Brennan Chester, Alexis Rodriquez, TK Lang, Hamill and Cain all reached and scored. The key hits were a pair of 2-run singles by Lang and Cain.

TK Lang went the final 3 and a third innings in relief of Chester to get the win. Elliott Croat went the final 2 and two thirds in relief to take the loss.

With the win Sheldon closes the regular season at 2-9 and 1-8 in the conference. Sheldon opens tournament play Saturday in Peterson against host team Sioux Central in a 2A District 2 quarterfinal with first pitch at 7:00.

Sibley Ocheyedan wraps up the regular season at home Wednesday night against Trinity Christian. After that its on to the tournament. The Generals have been assigned to 2A District 1 hosted by Okoboji and will meet Sioux Center in a 4:30 contest.
