Raiders Claim Titles In Six Events At DWU

Mitchell, South Dakota — Northwestern College men’s track and field athletes claimed titles in six events at Friday’s Dakota Wesleyan Alumni Open held at the DWU / Avera Sports and Wellness Center in Mitchell, S.D.

Dylan Hendricks won two events, taking first place in both the mile and 3000m. The senior pulled away from the field in the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:20, nearly 15 seconds ahead of his teammate and second place runner, Ian Wiersma. Hendricks also won the 3K with a time of 8:49, 25 seconds ahead of Raider Jakob Van Der Werff (9:14).

Josh Van Dusseldorp continued to compete well in the 600m, claiming the title with a time of 1:22.5, just ahead of teammate Wyatt Pryor (1:24.76). Van Dusseldorp currently has the third fastest time in the GPAC this season.

Isaiah Lee picked up the first win of his collegiate career in the 1000m, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:39.3, less than two seconds in front of Hunter Shanks (DWU). That time puts Lee just outside the GPAC’s top 10 based on the current performance list.
