Remsen St Mary’s On To The 1A Semifinals

Remsen St Mary’s opened on an 11-0 run in their quarterfinal match up against West Harrison and never looked back as they rolled to a 70-52 win.

The Hawks will meet North Linn who downed North Mahaska 89-43 in the other lower bracket quarterfinal. Tip off is set for 7:15 on Wednesday night.

RSM led 21-3 at the end of the first quarter but West Harrison found their offense and the Hawk lead was 38-24 at the half. At the end of three it was 55-39 with Remsen St Mary’s going on to win it 70-52.

Four Hawks hit double figures led by Carter Schorg with 20. Cael Ortmann hit for 17. Jaxon Bunker dropped in 14 with Alex Schroeder adding a dozen.

West Harrison put three players in double figures led by Sage Evans with 19 points. Koleson Evans was next with 15 and Mason King hit for 11.

Remsen had a 24-12 edge in points in the paint and an 18-7 advantage in points off turnovers. Aside from the game being tied for :10 seconds the Hawks were in front for the other 31:50.

With the win Remsen St Mary’s is 25-0 while West Harrison finishes the season at 22-4.

Next up for the Hawks a semifinal meeting Wednesday night at 7:15 against 25-1 North Linn.
