Sheldon And G-LR Split Siouxland Basketball Doubleheader

Sheldon Iowa — Sheldon hosted George Little Rock in a Siouxland Conference basketball doubleheader Tuesday night. The girls game went to the Mustangs 39-37 while Sheldon claimed the boys game 64-44.

In the girls game George Little Rock jumped out to a 12-2 irst quarter lead. Sheldon got the offense going in the second quarter and trimmed the deficit to 20-17 at halftime. At the end of the third quarter the Mustangs led 30-26 and held off the Orabs in the fourth quarter to get the win 39-37.

Mackensie Post led all scorers with 13 for G-LR. Madison Eben joined her in double figures with 10 points. Sheldon had two players in double figures as Brooklyn Grady and Maliah Kleinhesselink each pumped in 11 points.

With the win G-LR is 1-2 on the year and in the conference. Sheldon stands at 1-4 on the year and 1-3 in the Siouxland.

Sheldon led at all the breaks in the boys game taking a 16-8 lead after the first eight minutes. At the half the lead was 30-19. At the end of three Sheldon was in front 43-29 before going on to get the win 64-44.

Sheldon had three players in double figures getting a game high 21 from Kaleb Ackerman and 20 from Tye Sudbeck. Shane Brouwer hit for a dozen. The Mustangs were led by Noah Terhark with a 12 point night fueled by a 10 point third quarter.

With the win Sheldon is 2-2 on the season and picks up their first conference win. G-LR is 0-3 for the year and in the conference.

Up next for the Orabs will be a road trip to Rock Rapids to go against Central Lyon. The Mustangs are home to Okoboji on Friday.
