Dordt opened Tuesday contest with a 6-0 lead with a Baylee Tetzlaff three and continued to build their lead through the first part of the quarter. The Defender lead increased to as much as 10 points with Erika Feenstra’s two free throws after an offensive rebound. In the final two minutes of the first quarter, Jamestown went on a 7-0 run to make the score 20-17 after the first.
The Defenders answered at the start of the second quarter with a 15-0 run of their own, as Baylee Tetzlaff and Macey Nielson started the offense with a second-chance opportunity and a made three-point shot. One minute after Jamestown’s first bucket of the quarter, Bailey Beckman scored by splitting a few defensive players and finishing with the layup. Kia Tower ended the half with a three to bring Jamestown within 14.
Jamestown cut the Dordt lead to just 4 points with 5:21 to go in the quarter, as Hannah DeMars made a three after securing an offensive rebound. A couple of minutes later, with the score still within single-digits, Erika Feenstra completed two and-one opportunities and stretched the Dordt lead back to 54-41. The quarter ended with a Macey Nielson lead to make the score 62-46.
Dordt took their largest lead of the game four minutes into the final quarter, as Bailey Beckman scored off of the turnover. Hannah DeMars helped the Jimmies put together one final run before Ashtyn Veerbeek added a basket in the paint to give Dordt a 16-point lead. The Defenders moved into the fifth spot in the conference following the win, moving to 3-3 in GPAC play.
Dordt is now 4-5 and Jamestown is 4-3
The Defenders will return to the De Witt for the first of two consecutive home games on Saturday, December 12 vs. Hastings. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
