Sheldon Sweeps Basketball Doubleheader With South O’Brien

Sheldon Orabs 1Sheldon Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs swept a non conference basketball doubleheader with South O’Brien Saturday in Sheldon. The girls final was 36-19. The boys final was Sheldon 53-32 over the Wolverines.

Sheldon led at all the breaks in the girls game up 9-3 at the end of the first quarter and 22-7 at the half. At the end of three the lead was 25-10 with the Orabs going on to win  36-19.

Katie Wagner was the games top scorer with 11 points. She keyed the effort with a 7-of-11 performance from the free throw line. South O’Brien was led by Shelby Schueder with 7 points including a pair of three point bucket.

With the win Sheldon goes to 1-3 on the year while South O’Brien is even at 2-2.

 

In the boys game the Orabs led at all the breaks as well. Sheldon was up 10-3 at the end of the first quarter and up 20-16 at the half. A bucket by Ryan Van Marel at the buzzer  pushed to 36-29 at the end of three with the Orabs winning 53-32.

Sheldon got a game high 18 from Kyle Boerhave and 16 from Van Marel. The Wolverines also had two players in double figures getting 11 from Cameron Maxwell and 10 more from Payton Brasser.

With the win Sheldon stays unbeaten on the young season at 2-0 while the Wolverines are 2-1 after their first loss of the season.

Sheldon in on the road in conference play Tuesday with a trip to Rock Valley. South O’Brien will be at home Tuesday hosting Hinton in a War Eagle Conference match up.
