Shippy To Run For Dordt

Peter Shippy has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Shippy competed for Sioux Center High School and helped the Warriors to a third place finish at the Class 2A State Cross Country Championship in 2018. Shippy finished 13th in the 2018 Class 2A field and was the first runner across for Sioux Center. He earned all-state honors in both 2017 and 2018 and was an academic all-state pick while also claiming all-conference honors twice. Shippy has a personal best of 16:58 on a 5,000 meter cross country course and 2:02 in the 800 meters in track and field. He was on a 4×800 meter relay team that finished seventh at the 2018 state track and field meet.

“I am excited to welcome Peter to our program. Peter is a talented runner with great experience running for Coach Lehman at Sioux Center High School. He has an incredible attitude and has an intense desire for team success to go along with his immense running versatility. I look forward to his impact on our teams and across campus spiritually, athletically, and academically,” said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Nate Wolf.

Peter is the son of Scott and Kristin Shippy of Sioux Center, Iowa. He plans to study Computer Engineering at Dordt.
