Sibley Ocheyedan Baseball Season Ends Due to COVID – 19

Sibley Iowa — The Sibley Ocheyedan baseball season has ended due to a positive test for COVID – 19.

A joint statement from Superintendent James Craig and Activities Director Amie Elser released on Friday July 10th stated a Sibley-Ocheyedan baseball player tested positive for COVID-19.

The team would be required to self-quarantine for 14 days. The first round of district play begins Saturday July 11th. As a result the Generals baseball season ended on Friday.

Quoting the statement:

We are glad that the boys were able to play a part of their season, and are extremely saddened the virus has taken away more of their season than it already had. The team represented us well on the field this summer, we are proud of the coaches and student-athletes, and we thank the parents and community for their support.

Generals and members of the media:

Sibley-Ocheyedan has had a baseball player test positive for COVID-19, or the coronavirus. The team would be required to self-quarantine for 14 days, however, the first round of district play begins tomorrow, July 11. As a result, the Generals baseball season ends today. Coaches will be in contact with players in the coming days regarding uniform and equipment turn-in.
