Sheldon Iowa — Sioux Center downed Sheldon 14-1 in a Siouxland Conference softball match up Wednesday night in Sheldon.
Sioux Center had the offense going early as they scored 5 runs in the first inning. The inning was keyed by an rbi single from Chloe Harskamp and a 2 run single by Lainy Pomrenke. Both Harskamp and Pomrenke would score along with Annie Bullock, Regan Jansen and Sydney Gesink.
The Warriors plated 3 runs in the second inning followed by 2 more in the third. A 4 run 6th inning would put the game away as the Warriors got production through out the batting order.
Sheldon’s run came in dramatic fashion in the home half of the fourth inning as Madison Van Meeteren led off with a solo home run over the fence in left field. It was her third home run of the season.
8th grader Tatum Schmalbeck got the win scattering 6 hits over 6 innings. She gave up 1 earned run, struck out 6 and did not walk a batter. Freshman Emma Weber took the loss. She gave up 9 hits over 6 innings while walking 4 batters.
With the win Sioux Center is 17-10 on the year and 9-3 in the conference. Sheldon is 5-15 on the year and 3-8 in the Siouxland. The Orabs will be at LeMars Thursday night before returning home to face West Lyon on Friday. The Warriors are off until Friday when they host Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
