Sioux Center Sweeps Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon hosted Sioux Center Friday night in the last Siouxland basketball doubleheader of the season at the O-Rena. The Warriors would take both ends of the doubleheader with the girls winning 66-26 and the boys lost a close one 45-42.

The Warriors started out the game in a 7-0 run and were led by Willow Bleeker with a 12-point quarter and would lead 17-4 after one. Sioux Center never let up outscoring Sheldon 17-1 in the second quarter and took a 34-5 lead into halftime. Sioux Center started the third quarter with their starters but soon the bench would play most of the second half. The Warriors led 44-15 after three and would cruise to 66-26 win.

Sioux Center put 13 players in the scorebook led by Willow Bleeker with 14 points. The Orabs were led in scoring by Brooklyn Grady with 9 points.

Sioux Center improves to 12-8 overall and 10-7 in the conference. Sheldon falls to 4-17 on the year and 3-14 in the Siouxland.

The boys game was back forth before Sioux Center went on a small run and led 15-9 after one. Sheldon turned up the heat in the second quarter behind good defense and balanced scoring and went on an 18-4 run to change the deficit into a 27-19 lead at intermission. The third quarter started slow and the Orabs would lead by ten at the 5:25 mark before Sioux Center would go on a 13-0 run to lead 34-31 before Blake Radke made a three pointer to tie it at 34 at the end of three. The fourth quarter was a hard-fought battle, and the Warriors would prevail in the end 45-42.

The Warriors were led in scoring by Eli Hibma with 19 points and Sheldon was led by Shane Brouwer with 15.
Sioux Center improves to 6-13 on the year and 6-10 in the conference while Sheldon falls to 8-12 on the season and 5-11 in the Siouxland.

The Orabs will travel to Rock Valley Tuesday night for the final doubleheader of the season while Sioux Center travels to Okoboji.
