Six Defender Men Claim All-GPAC Cross Country Honors

The Dordt Defender men’s cross country team had six runners claim all-GPAC honors at the GPAC Championship meet run on Saturday, November 9 in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Eric Steiger (Sophomore; Lynden, Washington) took second with a time of 25:26 and Jacob Vander Plaats (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) was less than a second behind while recording 25:26 as well. Brooks De Waard (Sophomore; Lynden, Washington) ran sixth in 25:44 and Nic Veldhorst (Sophomore; Oostburg, Wisconsin) was seventh in 25:45.

Josh Rupprecht (Freshman, Cerritos, California) and Joe Anderson (Freshman; George, Iowa) ran 10th and 11th in 25:53 and 25:55 to complete the all-GPAC honorees for the Defenders.

Runners who finish in the top-15 at the GPAC Championship are considered all-conference for that season.

This is the third time Vander Plaats has earned all-GPAC honors while Steiger and Veldhorst are repeat honorees from 2018.
