Estherville Iowa — A four run 4th inning powered Spirit Lake to a 4-1 win over Boyden Hull Rock Valley Friday afternoon in the Class 3A District 2 semis at Estherville. The top of the order came through as lead off man Houston Hawkins double and later scored. Gavin Kramer reached on an error and later scored. Keaton Leach doubled to drive in a run and would later score. Tony Eckert singled to drive in a run and scored the final run for the Indians. The other two rbi singles were delivered by Aaron Gross and Justin Jones.
The Nighthawks got on the board in the top of the 5th when they loaded the bases and Davis Van EgDom scored from third when Spirit Lake pitcher Gavin DeVos was called for a balk.
DeVos earned the win going 7 innings. He gave up 2 hits and struck out 6 while walking 2. Zach Noble took the loss. He went the distance giving up 6 hits. He struck out 4 and did not walk a batter.
With the win Spirit Lake moves on to the District Final on Monday night with a record of 15-8. Boyden Hull Rock Valley closes out the year with a record of 15-12.
