State Wrestling Qualifying Results Saturday February 11th

Qualifying for the State Wrestling Tournament is set for Saturday. In April of last year, the board approved changes to the individual postseason by expanding the state tournament to 24 qualifiers per weight class in each classification, and eliminating sectional tournaments.

District tournaments expand this year in Class 2A and Class 1A to 12 sites with the top two place-winners at each weight advancing to state. The top three place-winners will advance in Class 3A.

Area Wrestlers in Class 1A will gather at the Wester Christian Gym. The field includes Akron-Westfield, Alta-Aurelia, GT-RA, Kingsley-Pierson, Pocahontas Area, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sioux Central, West Sioux, host team Western Christian and Woodbury Central.

  1. Western Christian, Hull

In Class 2A two sites come into play. Sheldon has been assigned to the Estherville Lincoln Central District. The rest of the field includes Algona, Cherokee, host team E-LC along with Forest City, Okoboji/HMS, Spirit Lake Park and West Lyon.

The rest of the area teams will be at the District hosted by Sioux Center. That field includes Boyden Hull Rock Valley, Bishop Heelan, Central Lyon George Little Rock, MOC Floyd Valley, OABCIG, Ridge View, Sergeant Bluff Luton and host team Sioux Center.

In Class 3A Spencer, LeMars and Storm Lake have been assigned to the Fort Dodge District. The rest of that field includes Dowling Catholic, host team Fort Dodge, Sioux City East, West and North along with Valley of West Des Moines.

The State Individual Wrestling Tournament will again take place at Wells Fargo Arena. With the expanded field of 24 in each class the tourney will open on Wednesday February 15th and will conclude with Championship Saturday on February 18th
