The first step for area wrestlers on the way to the State Wrestling Tournament comes on Saturday with the Sectional round. Sheldon South O’Brien Wrestlers will be at Spirit Lake.
Class 2A wrestlers will be at Spirit Lake and Sergeant Bluff Luton. The field at Spirit Lake includes Boyden Hull Rock Valley, Central Lyon George Little Rock, Cherokee, Sheldon South O’Brien, host team Spirit Lake Park and West Lyon.
The field at SBL includes Heelan, MOC Floyd Valley, OABCIG, Ridge View, Sioux Center and the host team Warriors.
The top 2 finishers in each sectional will come together for the District Tournament February 12th hosted by Sioux Center.
Wrestlers from Estherville Lincoln Central and Okoboji have been assigned to the sectional at Estherville.
Class 1A wrestlers will compete in the Section Tournament hosted by West Sioux. That group includes Akron Westfield, GT-RA, Kingsley Pierson, Sibley Ocheyedan, Sioux Central, West Bend Mallard, West Sioux and Western Christian. Wrestlers from Hinton will be at a sectional hosted by Woodbury Central.
The top two finishers advance to the District Tournament Saturday the 12th hosted by Emmetsburg. Hinton wrestlers who advance will be at the West Monona District Tournament.
Class 3A tournament wrestling will begin with the District round on Saturday February 12th. Area 3A wrestlers will be at Fort Dodge. Teams include Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Boone, Denison Schleswig, Fort Dodge, Le Mars, Spencer and Storm Lake.
