Parkville, Missouri — The Dordt Defender softball team travels to Parkville, Missouri for a pair of games on Friday starting at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 26 and will face Avila in the Kansas City, Missouri area on Saturday starting at 12:00 pm.
This will be the season opener for Park after compiling a 4-10 record last season before the season ended.
Park returns Lexie Duncan with a ,386 batting average last season and Katie Kurima batted .292 last season. Duncan was 2-3 on the mound with a 5.82 earned run average and Adrianna Solary was 2-3 with 14 strikeouts but she struggled with control with 28 walks.
This will be the season opener for Avila after the Eagles posted a 5-9 record last year.
The Eagles return Brooke Day with a .419 batting average in 2020 and she had 11 runs batted in with 18 hits and Cierra McGee batted .289 with 11 runs batted in and had 13 hits. Morgan Senevey was 1-2 with a 2.92 earned run average last season and Madison McKinney was 2-5 with a 3.68 earned run average. McKinney struck out 34 batters in 45 innings.
Dordt is 3-3 after playing six games from February 11-13 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Kenzie Cunard has a team high nine hits with a .391 batting average and has knocked in four runs. Erin Bredemus has four runs batted in and a .538 batting average with seven hits and a homerun. Chanlder Schemper has seven hits and a .389 batting average and Jessica Oules has nine hits and a .375 batting average. Rachel Evavold has three doubles and a homerun out of five hits in four games played.
Abby Kraemer and Taylor Knaack are both 1-1 with Kraemer striking out 33 in 17 innings of work and Knaack has a 3.18 earned run average while Kraemer’s earned run average is 2.06.
Dordt is scheduled to travel to Kissimmee, Florida for 12 games from March 6-12
