Two Red Raiders earn GPAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – Two Northwestern College athletes have been named a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Volleyball Player-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC office Tuesday, Oct. 1st.

Jazlin Douma of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Douma, a senior, from Orange City, Iowa, totaled 31 kills (3.88 per set), 22 digs, and seven blocks as the Red Raiders went 2-0. A top-five matchup at Concordia on Saturday saw Douma lead all players with 24 kills, also recording 11 digs and five blocks, hitting .340 on the day.

Northwestern College middle Zavur Metzger is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Metzger, a junior, from Larchwood, Iowa, was dominate in the middle, blocking 12 attacks this week for 1.71 blocks per set. She also put down nine kills and added an assist. Metzger closes the weekend as the NAIA’s leader in blocks per set (1.87).
