Two Red Raiders earn GPAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – Two Northwestern College Red Raider volleyball players were selected as Volleyball Players-of-the-Week as announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tuesdday, Oct. 22nd.

Jazlin Douma of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Douma, a senior, from Orange City, Iowa, totaled 37 kills for an average of 5.29 per set in Northwestern’s wins over Morningside and No. 18 Midland. She hit a blistering .368 in two matches, also digging up 14 attempts and notching six blocks.

Northwestern College middle Zavyr Metzger is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Metzger, a junior, from Larchwood, Iowa, was dominate in the middle with 16 blocks for 2.29 blocks per set in Northwestern’s 2-0 slate. She had eight blocks in each match, also adding four kills. She is currently averaging an NAIA-best 1.95 blocks per set.
