Unity Christian volleyball fell in the first round of the Class 3A State Volleyball tournament to Davenport Assumption.
Unity Christian started off the first set down 0-2, then went on a 6-0 run to take the lead. Some early errors by Davenport Assumption gave the Knights a 14-9 advantage in the opening frame. Davenport then went on an 11-3 run and came away with the set one win 25-20.
In set 2, Unity Christian went on an 8-2 run to take a 9-5 lead in the second set. Unity was up 15-8, then 20-14 and came away with the set 2 win 25-17.
Davenport Assumption responded in set 3 by getting around Unity’s blocks and held on for a 25-18 set 3 victory.
Set 4 was tied at 9-9, and when momentum looked to shift toward the Knights, Assumption would go on a 3-0 run. The set was tied 19-19, when Assumption took control after a long rally point and went on to win 25-22.
Unity’s season comes to an end at 23-6.
