VNU Panthers Perform Well At Special Olympics Summer Games

Sheldon, Iowa – The Village Northwest Unlimited Panthers are excited to share the outcome of their participation in the 2017 Special Olympics Iowa Summer Games. The Summer Games were held May 25 – May 27, 2017 at Iowa State University in Ames, IA.

There were 18 athletes representing the VNU Panthers in 13 events. Results are as follows:

Track & Field Events:

25 Meter Walk – Matt Stoll – 1st place

50 Meter Dash – Justin Groen – 4th place; Matt Kramer – 2nd place

100 Meter Dash – Keith Krumm – 3rd place

100 Meter Walk – Chris Swoyer – 1st place

400 Meter Walk – Karen Kennedy – 8th place

Running Long Jump – Scott Wheeler – 2nd place

Shot Put – Matt Kramer – 1st place

Softball Throw – Matt Stoll – 1st place

Standing Long Jump – John List – 1st place

Turbo Javelin – Shawn Todd – 7th place; Jessica Webb – 4th place

4×100 Meter Walk Relay – Mary Swoyer, Janet Grooters, Nicole Arens, Jessica Webb – 1st place

Bocce Ball:

Matt Kramer, Scott Wheeler, Mike Kramer, Charles White – 1st place

Soccer Skills:

Nicole Arens – 4th place

Austin Buurman – 2nd place
