Wedel, Kacmarynski Lead Raiders Past #11 Grand View

Orange City, Iowa — The Northwestern College volleyball team defeated No.11 Grand View 3-1 in a final tune-up match prior to the 2021 GPAC Tournament. Individual scores were 25-12, 25-13, 23-25, 25-17.

The seventh-ranked Raiders improve to 17-3 as they prep for Saturday’s GPAC Quarterfinal against Hastings. Grand View lost its fourth straight match and is now 15-4.

Anna Wedel put away a match-high 16 kills while A.J. Kacmarynski tallied 10 as the Raiders were led by their left side hitters. Northwestern had big advantages in blocking (13-6) and in ace serves (11-1); Bekah Horstman totaled five blocks and Taylor Meyer served a career-best five aces.

Northwestern hit .229 for the match and held Grand View to a .023 efficiency; the Raiders limited Grand View to a negative hitting percentage in sets one, two and four. Lacey Reitz directed the Northwestern offense with 33 assists and served two aces; both Olivia Granstra (13 digs) and Emily Strasser (12 digs) led the backrow play and registered double figure digs for the second consecutive match.

Grand View was led by Alexa Aldrich-Ingram with 11 kills, hitting a team-best .172 on the rightside.
