Western Boys Fall To Omaha Westside At The Arena Invite

Sioux City, Iowa — The Western Christian boys basketball team fell to Omaha Westside Saturday night at the Arena Invite played at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City 56-46.

Western would start off hot getting 8 points from Wyatt Gulker in the opening frame and take a 17-13 lead into the second quarter. Cold shooting would then plague the Wolfpack, scoring only 5 points in the second quarter and they would trail heading into halftime 25-22. The Warriors of Westside continued to pull away in the 3rd with 6 points coming from both Charlie Davis and CJ Mitchell to give Omaha the 45-38 advantage heading into the fourth. Westside would come away with the victory 56-46.

Western Christian got a game high 13 points from Ty Van Essen. Westside had three players in double figures. Chandler Meeks had 12 points, Davis put in 11, and Payson Gillespie added 11.

Up next for Western Christian is a home contest against Sergeant Bluff-Luton to end 2021 on Tuesday, December 21st.
