Western Gets Sweep In Le Mars Thursday Night

Western Christian swept a non conference basketball double header in Le Mars Thursday night. The girls final was 51-44. In the boys game it was 59-48 Wolfpack.

In the girls game the score was tied at 11-11 at the end of the first quarter. At halftime Le Mars had moved in front 21-18 and at the end of the third quarter the Lady Bulldogs were still up by three at 35-32. Western got back to even midway through the fourth quarter, took the lead and would go on to win 51-44.

Sarah Brown scored a game high 17 for Le Mars followed by Zoe Wittkop with 12. Western was led by Lydia Van Kley with 15 followed by Teagan De Jager with 10.

With the win Western is 2-3 on the year. Le Mars is 1-4.

 

In the boys game Western led at all the breaks up 12-9 at the end of the first quarter. At halftime the lead was 27-21. The Wolfpack pushed that to a 15 point edge at the end of three at 46-31 before getting the win 59-48.

Caleb Dreckman scored a game high 20 for Le Mars. He was joined in double figures by Konnor Calhoun with 12. Western had two players in double figures as well with Wyatt Gaulker knocking down 4 threes on the way to a 16 point night. Ty Van Essen scored 18 from in close.

With the win Western impoves to 3-1 on the season. Le Mars is 1-3.
