Western Sweeps Tigers In Hull

Hull, Iowa — The Western Christian Wolfpack got the season sweep of Spencer Friday night in Hull. The girls game went to the Wolfpack 48-30, and Western took the boys game 77-31.

In the girls game, Western jumped out to a 15-11 lead after the first quarter, and had a 27-16 lead heading into the half. Western extended their lead in the third quarter to 13 with a 37-24 lead, and went on to win 48-30.

Western got a game high twelve from Olivia Granstra, and Abby Postma added 11. Spencer got a team high 10 from Allison Piercy.

With the win Western improves to 11-4 on the season, and 6-1 in the Lakes. Spencer falls to 3-10 on the year, and 1-5 in the conference.

The Western boys jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back. Western started the first quarter on a 7-0 run and later went on a 13-0 run, and had a 23-4 lead after the first eight minutes. Western’s lead grew and at intermission had a 42-18 lead. After three it was 65-28 Western and the Wolfpack went on to win 77-31.

Western got a game high 12 points from Tate Winterfeld. He was joined in double figures by Wyatt Gulker and Dawson Feenstra who each had 11 points. Spencer got a team high 9 points from Gage Garnatz, which all came in the second quarter.

With the win Western improves to 11-2 on the year, and 7-0 in the conference. Spencer falls to 5-8 on the season and 1-5 in the Lakes.

Up next for Western is an afternoon matinee at Worthington on Saturday with a tip off for the girls at 1:00 pm.
