Wildcats Sweep Orabs

Inwood, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs would go on the road and come up short in a Siouxland Conference double-header to the West Lyon Wildcats Friday night. The Wildcat girls ranked #6 in class 3A won 40-22 and the boys would go on to a 51-33 victory.

The girls game started pretty stingy for both teams as they would battle to 7 -7 tie after one. The Wildcats full court press would force some Orab turnovers and they would push out to a 15-10 lead going into halftime. The defensive pressure was in full force in the third quarter and West Lyon would push the lead to 29-18 at the end of the third quarter and go on for the win 40-22.

West Lyon had two players in double figures led by Brooklyn Meyer with 12 points and Hayley Knobloch added 11. The Orabs were led in scoring by Brooklyn Grady with 7 points.

The Wildcats took the game over from that point and went on 12-0 run in the first quarter and would lead 12-3 after one quarter of play. West Lyon was not done yet scoring the first six points of the second quarter before Brouwer would make a basket ending the Wildcats 19-0 run and would lead at the break 27-8. The Orabs battled hard in the third quarter getting back to with in ten points but could get no closer the rest of the way trailing 37-25 after three and would fall 51-33.

The Wildcats placed three players in double figures with Darren Meyer leading the way with 12 points, Zach Van Beek had 11 and Cade Warner 10. The Orabs were led in scoring by Kaleb Ackerman with 9 points.
