Hull Iowa — Western Christian ran their season mark to 4-2 Friday night with a 49-0 home win over Sheldon at AR Hesla Field in Hull.
A fumble recovery led to a Drake Granstra 1 yard touchdown run. Riley Vant’Hull added the extra point and the Wolfpack were in front 7-0 with 10:42 to play in the first quarter.
Tyson Kooima scored on a 1 yard run and Van’Hull made it 14-0 with the extra point.
A fumble recovery was turned into Western’s third touchdown. Tyson Kooima found Joey Horstman for a 9 yard score. The kick was no good and the lead was 20-0 with 1:42 to play in the first quarter.
in the second quarter Kooima found running back Drake Granstra for a 5 yard score. The extra point was good and the lead was 27-0 with 5:48 left in the half and that would be the half time score.
in the second half Ben Granstra scored on a 1 yard run and a 2 point conversion pass from Kooima to Horstman ran the lead to 35-0.
Later in the third a Sheldon fumble was turned into a touchdown when Drake Granstra scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1 yard run. Vant’Hull’s extra point made it 42-0 with 5:36 left in the third.
Western wrapped up the scoring with :58 seconds left in the third quarter when James Warntjes scored on a 4 yard touchdown run. The kick was good and the lead went to 49-0 and that would be the final score.
Up next for Sheldon is a trip to Spirit Lake next Friday as they return to district play. Western returns to the district battles hosting Hinton next Friday.
