Sioux Center, Iowa — Raya Zevenbergen, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cheer program.
“I am so very thrilled that Raya has decided to join our cheer program at Dordt next year! She has a wonderful background in gymnastics, and we will be able to use her talents on this team next year as a tumbler and also potentially as a flyer on the team. We look forward to seeing what she can all bring to the team next year, and seeing her grow as a cheerleader!” said Dordt cheer coach Mel Knobloch.
Zevenbergen has an extensive gymnastics career and also played volleyball in high school.
“I chose Dordt because I loved the Christian atmosphere and community. I know Dordt is a place I will be encouraged to grow spiritually, academically and in my relationships,” said Zevenbergen.
Raya is the daughter of Dale and Tammy Zevenbergen of Sioux Center, Iowa. She plans to study social work.
