Statewide, Iowa — If you think you’ve noticed gasoline prices on the rise again, you would be right. AAA is reporting gasoline prices in Iowa are about 30 cents a gallon higher than a month ago.
Meredith Mitts is a spokeswoman for AAA Iowa.
Although there are many factors that go into the price at the pump, Mitts says gas prices in the weeks ahead are expected to rise because of holiday travel and weather may be another factor.
It is worth noting that gasoline prices are very volatile, and often change.
Diesel fuels prices are averaging above $5 a gallon in Iowa. That’s about 38 cents more than a week ago — and nearly equal to the nationwide jump in diesel this past week.
In our local area, the price at the pump is currently around $3.45 for E-15, and $3.58 for Super Unleaded in Sheldon. According to Gas Buddy, gasoline in many surrounding communities is $3.69 per gallon. Sioux Center has gasoline at $3.55 per gallon of regular. In Orange City, it was reported that gas was found for $3.49 per gallon.
