Sheldon Community School Summer Meal Program

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Community School will be beginning their Summer Meal Program shortly after the last day of school.

Sheryl Alons, a food service worker for Sheldon public schools, explains a bit about the program.

Alons says meals will be served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. for all children 18 years or younger. She says parents can come with their children.

She tells us last year they averaged serving 100 meals per day. This year she is hoping it’s 150 or more meals a day since they are serving out of East Elementary.

Alons tells us this year she is hoping to have a little activity table for the children.

According to Alons, there will be transportation to East Elementary at all the town school bus stops, and the school will send a list home with students that will have the times that the bus will be at each stop. She tells us the thought behind the Summer Meal Program.

The Summer Meal Program will be at East Elementary each weekday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. starting Tuesday, May 30th and going until Friday, August 4th.
