Barn Destroyed In Fire Near Inwood

Inwood, Iowa — A small barn was destroyed in a fire on Sunday, September 24, 2023, near Inwood.

According to Inwood Fire Chief Troy Van Beek, at about 8:40 a.m., the Inwood Fire Department was called to the report of a barn fire at 2084 250th Street, two miles east, a mile south, and almost another mile east of Inwood.

The chief says the fire department saw flames from all sides and the roof was collapsing when they arrived. He tells us their main concern was a fuel tank with fuel in it sitting against the building. He says they used water to cool the fire and fuel tank.

Van Beek says no injuries were reported, and there was no livestock or pet loss.

He tells us the Larchwood Fire Department provided water.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Beek reports that the barn was totaled in the blaze.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
