(KIWA Staff Photo)Sioux Center, Iowa — A payloader was destroyed in a fire on Friday, September 25, 2026, near Sioux Center.
According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, at about 8:25 a.m., the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of a payloader on fire at 2320 400th Street, almost eight miles west of the 9th Street South stoplight in Sioux Center.
When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the payloader fully engulfed. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire and were able to save the payloader’s tires.
Van Holland says no injuries were reported.
The fire department was assisted by firefighters from Ireton and EMS personnel from the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but there was a hydraulic leak that the farmer was headed to fix when the fire started.
Chief Van Holland reports that the payloader was considered totaled.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.
