Alvord, Iowa — A utility tractor was destroyed in a fire on Saturday, August 29, 2020, near Alvord.
According to Alvord Firefighter Tanner Van Middendorp, about 2:30 p.m., the Alvord Fire Department was called to the report of a tractor fire at 2163 Fig Avenue, about a mile and a half east of Alvord.
Van Middendorp says the fire department saw a small utility tractor on fire as they approached the scene. He says the fire was almost out when they got there, but they did douse it with water to make sure it was extinguished.
Firefighter Van Middendorp says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause is undetermined, but it did start in the engine compartment of the tractor.
Van Middendorp reports that the tractor was a total loss.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
