Sibley Man Injured In Plymouth County Rollover Crash

Plymouth County, Iowa — A Sibley man was taken to the hospital after the semi tractor-trailer rig he was driving left a Plymouth County blacktop Saturday afternoon and rolled in a ditch.

According to an accident report from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, a 2019 Peterbilt pulling a milk tank trailer and driven by 59-year-old Michael Block of Sibley, was northbound on County Blacktop K-22 shortly before 3:00 Saturday afternoon. Block told deputies that a southbound car was riding the center line of the road and he was forced to move over towards the shoulder to avoid a collision. Deputies say that upon moving to the shoulder, the passenger side tires left the roadway, leaving Block unable to control the truck and trailer and forcing him into the ditch. According to authorities, upon entering the ditch the vehicle overturned at least once, coming to rest on its top.

Block reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash, and was transported to Mercy Hospital by the Akron Ambulance.

Deputies term the tractor-trailer, which is owned by Van’t Hof Milk Hauling, LLC of Edgerton, Minnesota, a total loss, with damage estimated at $150,000.
