Newer Combine Totaled In Ireton Area Fire

Ireton, Iowa– A newer combine was destroyed in a fire on Monday, October 29, 2018, near Ireton.

According to Ireton Fire Chief Richard Steckelberg, about 12:45 p.m., the Ireton Fire Department was called to the report of a combine fire on the south side of Highway 10, one mile east of Ireton.

The chief says the fire department saw the combine fully engulfed in fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

Steckelberg says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Steckelberg reports that the newer combine was totaled in the blaze.

He says they used 1,800 gallons of water to fight the fire, and the 12 firefighters who responded were on scene for about 45 minutes.
