Orange City Police Need Help Identifying Hit & Run Driver

Orange City, Iowa — Orange City Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver who was involved in a hit and run collision Thursday afternoon (March 7th).

According to a report from the Orange City Police, the mishap occurred shortly before 4:00 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 6th Street SW and Colorado Avenue. Police say a 2006 Pontiac G6, driven by 27-year-old Kyle Brummel of Orange City was westbound on 6th Street SW when he was struck broadside by a pickup that had been northbound on Colorado Avenue, and was unable to stop in time to avoid the crash.

Brummel told police that he and the other driver both exited their vehicles and talked to each other. Brummel reported to police that the pickup’s driver had been upset, and was in a hurry. He reportedly told Brummel that he had to get to the courthouse before it closed. Brummel and the man reportedly agreed that he could go to the courthouse, then meet Bremmel at his residence when he was finished. Brummel told police that the man had told him that he didn’t have a valid Driver’s License. Police say Brummel failed to get a license plate number, name or phone number for the pickup’s driver.

Orange City Police say the hit and run driver is described as a Hispanic male about 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet in height, with a slender build, black hair that was cut short on the sides and longer on the top, parted on the left and combed to the right. They say the subject was driving a blue pickup truck, possibly a Chevy. If you have any information about this accident you’re asked to contact the Orange City Police Department at 712-707-4251.
