According to Hospers Fire Chief Jason Overmole, at about 7:50 a.m., the Hospers Fire Department was called to the report of a truck fire with baby pigs on the trailer on Highway 60 near Hospers Drive South, just southwest of Hospers.
The chief says the fire department saw the trailer on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire. Granville firefighters provided automatic mutual aid.
Overmole says over 100 pigs died as a result of the fire.
