Rural Orange City Event Venue Destroyed In Fire

Orange City, Iowa — An early morning fire destroyed a popular venue between Maurice and Orange City early Thursday morning.

According to Orange City Fire Chief Denny Vander Wel, the call came in at 2:26 a.m. Sioux County Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst says a passerby who saw the fire at the Triple Box called 911. The Triple Box is two miles south of Highway 10 and Albany Avenue in Orange City, a mile west, and another half a mile south at 4758 Ironwood Avenue.

Firefighters from Alton, Maurice, and Orange City were on the scene for about four and a half hours. The barn area of the Triple Box is destroyed, and according to Vander Wel, the building is a total loss.

Investigators returned to the scene during the day on Thursday to try and determine the cause of the fire; however, Vander Wel says it does not look suspicious.
